Editorial Policy
The standards every page on this site is held to — and how to hold us to them.
These are the rules we write by. They exist because a gift guide is only worth reading if you can trust it, and trust is built on specifics, not slogans.
Sourcing and accuracy
- Every factual claim about a watch — movement, case size, water resistance, crystal, warranty — traces to the manufacturer’s documentation or the product listing, cited with the date we read it.
- Where a brand doesn’t publish a spec, we mark it “Not published” rather than guessing. What a brand omits is information too.
- Cultural and etiquette claims (for example, gift superstitions) cite real, linkable references, never a vague “sources say.”
No fabrication — ever
- No fabricated reviews or testimonials. We do not invent customer quotes, star ratings, or “we tested” claims. We haven’t handled these watches and we say so.
- No fabricated prices.Prices come only from a live lookup and carry the date checked; when one can’t be verified we show “check price,” never a stale or invented number.
- No fabricated authority. Our author is described honestly as an enthusiast, never with a credential he doesn’t hold.
Independence
We hold no inventory and push no house brand. Some links are affiliate links (see our disclosure), but commission never decides a recommendation, ranking, or the decision to flag a pick as one to skip. Brands cannot pay to appear or to rank higher, and we accept no free products in exchange for coverage.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them openly. If you spot an error, email info@windandwrist.com. We’ll check the claim against its source, correct it if it’s wrong, and note that the page was updated. Significant corrections are dated on the page.
Update cadence
- Continuously: prices re-verify and expire on their own if stale.
- Monthly: spot-checks for discontinued models and broken links.
- Quarterly: each roundup’s picks re-reviewed against the current catalog.
- Seasonally: occasion pages (Father’s Day, Christmas, graduation, Valentine’s) refreshed before their season, never after.
